I have been thinking about the answer to this question for quite some time. The marketing gurus want you to focus on what makes your clinic special. Are you more experienced? Yes, that comes with training and time. Are you specialized? Yes, that comes with a derm residency, tons of derm journals, many derm meetings and workshops and best of all, one on one training with some of the best ever derm docs. So why open Cosmetic Dermatology and Laser Center? It’s where my travel through all those work days, meetings, journals, training, and exposures has led. I love what I do and love sharing the joy of it. I am very pleased to work with my patients who have finally decided to do something themselves “for a change”. BUT they are not sure what they want and are very cautious by nature. That is where Baby Steps come in. It is a much more comfortable approach for those of us who are mid life and have grown up in the Midwest. Softening the mirror image helps us match that image to how we actually feel and act. We still want to look like ourselves but not look like the numbers of our birthdays or the hours spent in the sun. Baby Steps give comfort, experience, re-assurance so the next or repeated steps are easier.
